The next process is paintinf the discs (Cds or DVD r BlueRay). Traditionally discs
have been printed by serigraphy (screen printing), which is the technique that
allows printing on surfaces that repel the water. The serigraphy
has a series of technical limitations, most remarkable, the
impossibility to make fine points and therefore when photos
are printed the result is rough. For that reason,
usually discs are painted with this technique only when using 2 or 3
colours (direct colors/pantone colors/plain colors), so to avoid the dotted (screen) patterns.
In duplimaster we paint the pressed cd by offset, which is a variation of the serigraphy but with smaller dots,
which allows us
to print Cds with the same quality of book
press printing (although this is not paper), which gives an attractive result because it is possible to use
designs with photos, with gradations, etc. Our systems allow
us to print up to 7 colours, which are adapted when, in addition
to the 4 basic colours, we required to use other colours,
for example, corporative pantone colours.
The plates for CD copies printing are done by the new technology known as "direct to plate", what makes the process quite accurate.
On request the ink can be UV-resistant so it last longer and also can be varnish, in order to protect the disc painting
